Thoughts On Downsizing
“When we avoid change, we avoid improvement and we miss the chance to live radically better lives. So become someone who is always learning and growing.” – Eric Barker
I have helped dozens of people downsize out of overcrowded large homes that they were not utilizing for many reasons.
Often times they had been wanting to move for years but something kept stopping them:
- Lack of help
- Lack of energy
- Procrastination
- Lack of resources
- Mental health
- Trauma
- Physical health problems
These are some of the reasons why these clients could not change their situation. Therefore, they could not change their circumstances.
However, once they reached out to us and accepted our help, things began to change for the better.
They started to see how their lives could be different.
They embraced the change of moving to a smaller space and shedding their unneeded stuff.
Some of them bought new mattresses, couches, artwork, and other furniture that they wanted but had not worked in their old space because of too much stuff.
Some of them moved into retirement communities or buildings and started engaging with others and participating in events.
The worry of what to do with their clutter was gone and they were left with their special memories, photos, memorabilia, decor with meaning, and a much simpler space to be enjoyed.
They could now invite their family and friends over to enjoy their new space.
